Black Women Roc! is a month (June) long annual digital campaign where 540WMain highlights and shines a spotlight on four black women and femme identifying women of color enacting change and making significant positive contributions to the Rochester community. Classes and workshops taught by black women are featured at our HQ. The campaign started in 2017 and is in it’s second year
The mission of Black Women Roc! is to highlight the work, accomplishments, and positive contributions of black and femme identifying women of color in the Rochester community.
How does it work?
- Community members are encouraged to nominate women.
- Four women are selected at random from the pool of submissions
- Each week throughout the month of June each woman’s work and life is spotlighted across 540WMain’s social media platforms and website.
- The campaign culminates with a performing arts showcase and open mic performance.
