About Black Women Roc! 

Now in it’s 3rd year; Black Women Roc! is a digital media campaign that highlights the accomplishments of local black women who are change agents in the Rochester community.  540WMain features courses and workshops taught by women that are rooted in subjects that are important to black women, femme identifying persons and other members of the African diaspora.

Call for Art | FAQs

Who should submit art?

We are looking for art by black women, and femme identifying women of color that represents the central theme of the power, creativity, and beauty of Black Women and Women of Color. 

What type of art should I submit? 

  • We are looking for art that is gallery wall ready (ready to hang)
  • Any size
  • All mediums welcome

How do I submit my art?

  • Online application should be submitted with a jpg copy of the art you want considered for the exhibit.

If selected, when and where will be art be displayed? 

  • Artwork will be displayed in the 540Gallery at 540WMain June 8-29, 2019.
  • The opening reception will take place Saturday June 8 | 11am-2pm at 540WMain

How will my work be selected? 

  • Art work will be selected by Molly Elizabeth and Calvin Eaton on the basis of style, order of submission, and how the work showcases the theme of Black Women Rock.

Where do I deliver my art? 

  • Art must be delivered in person to 540WMain Communiversity by May 27th.

Fine print

  • There is no cost to submit art
  • Anyone 18+ is welcome to apply
  • Only (10) works will be selected
  • Deadline to apply is Monday May 27, 2019
