We are pleased to spotlight Lujar Art our October Artist of The Month

About Lujar Art

Cory Wilson aka Lujar Art  is a Rochester based painter and artist. Join us as we celebrate his work for the month of August at his Opening Gallery Reception Sunday October 1st from 4-6 PM at 540WMain Community Learning Academy.

When did you begin your art career?

LA: As early as I can remember I have loved drawing. I’ve been an artist all my life.

Where did you get the inspiration for your art business?
LA: A couple of my artist friends saw some pencil drawings I did and suggested that I start painting. I told them that I didn’t know how to paint and I didn’t want to waste my money on equipment that I didn’t know how to use. The one artist friend told me where to get inexpensive equipment. He then asked me how did I know that you can’t paint unless you try.

What makes you want to be an artist?

NQ: Honestly knowing through visuals I could possibly reach someone you know, maybe plant a seed or give a lesson or a story the viewer can relate to.

For you how does what you do as an artist related to

LA: I would describe my style of art as freedom. As an artist I try to stand out and think outside the box. I feel that I have come a long way since I’ve started painting. I like a lot of different types of art and attempt to emulate a lot of different styles.

What is your favorite subject to paint?

LA: I like to paint people because I love the challenge of capturing their emotion on canvas.

What is it that inspires you to keep going as an entrepreneur?

LA: To be honest what keeps me inspired is the interest; the people and their reactions. That in itself keeps me going.
